Spanish Thin Crust Pizza – The perfect light snack with a lovely thin crispy crust.

The aroma of Spanish Thin Crust Pizza is something I can never resist when passing by one of the Majorcan Pizzerias. Although Pizza is typically known to be an Italian Dish, I believe that the Spanish have mastered it.

The Pizza in Spain is unbeatable in my eyes. They make the crust very thin and crispy.

This Recipe will make two Dinner Plate sized Pizzas (12 inch); however, if you are having a party, you can always …

… cut the dough into 2 inch rounds for individual mini pizzas.

Although the ingredients listed below are for a Mushroom Pizza, you can experiment with your favourite toppers. For instance, you can add Tomato Puree, Mozzarella Cheese, vegetables of your choice and then for added flavour …

… just add your favourite meat (pepperoni, sausage, mince, steak, chicken).

The pizza in the picture is one I made with Tomato Puree, Onion, Garlic, Spanish Sausage, Thinly Sliced Tomato, Mozzarella Cheese, and Mushrooms. My favourite mix, however, is Tomato Puree, Mushroom, lots of Garlic and Chicken bits.

Note: I find that the Pizza dough is much tastier when made with Strong White Bread Flour (the type recommended for bread machines). Be sure to sift the flour into a bowl, before adding the wet ingredients. This will make the flour even lighter.

RECIPE

Ingredients for Pizza Dough:

225 g Strong White Bread Flour
15 g Fresh Yeast
1/2 Tsp Salt
a pinch of sugar
2 Tablespoons Water
100 ml Milk
2 Teaspoons Olive Oil

Method for Making the Dough:

Sift the flour, salt and sugar into a large bowl.

Make a well in the centre.

Dissolve the Fresh Yeast into Two Tablespoons of Hot Water.

Pour the Yeast, and the milk into the well in the flour.

Knead the mixture together with your hands until the dough is shiny and elastic in texture.

Incorporate 2 Teaspoons of Olive Oil and knead once more until all of the oil is completely absorbed into the dough.

Form the dough into a ball. Sprinkle a little more Olive Oil on the dough.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow the dough to rest in a warm place for at least one hour until it has doubled in size.

When the dough has risen to desired size, separate it into two pieces. Knead both of these pieces lightly, and then form them into two flat Pizza bases.

Place the formed dough onto very lightly oiled Pizza Baking Pans and turn up the edges.

Again, sprinkle or brush some more Olive Oil on top of the dough.

Tip: If you do not have Pizza Baking Pans, you can place them onto Doubled Aluminium Foil and place the Aluminium Foil on your oven trays.

Ingredients for Mushroom Pizza:

200 gTomato Pure
3 - 4Large Firm White Mushrooms
200 gMozzarella Cheese
1Garlic Clove
Oregano
Parsley
Salt & Pepper to Taste
Olive Oil

Method for Filling

Wash the Mushrooms carefully and then slice them.

Chop the Garlic Clove into small pieces.

Cover the two Pizza Bases with the Tomato Puree just up to the edges.

Slice the Mozzarella into slices and place them all around the Spanish Thin Crust Pizza, not forgetting to place some in the middle.

Place the sliced mushrooms around the pizza on top of the Mozzarella Cheese.

Sprinkle with Oregano, Parsley, Salt and Pepper and a little bit of Olive Oil.

Let the Spanish Thin Crust Pizza stand for about 20 minutes in a cool place.

Preheat your oven to 210 degrees C and bake the Pizzas for approximately 15 minutes.

Serve Hot and Enjoy.

Spanish Thin Crust Pizza is very tasty dish that is simple to make. Have fun experimenting with your toppings. These pizzas make wonderful party food snacks, and they are equally delicious when they are cold, so you can even take them to work for lunch.
