Capdepera – A village on the North-East coast of Mallorca with a natural beauty and a stunning coastline.

Capdepera is a historical village that lies between Arta and Cala Ratjada on the north east coast of Mallorca.

Capdepera is only 78 kilometres from Palma. The journey from Palma will take you approximately 1 hour.

From this village you have a view of the most impressive castle on the island of Mallorca. Originally, a Watchtower stood here.

In 1300 King Juame II requested that an armed village be constructed within the walls of this castle to keep watch over the land and the sea for protection from pirate attacks. This village existed for centuries, until the pirate attacks ceased, and the residents relocated to the bottom of the 612m hill …

… the area now known as the village of Capdepera.

There is an 18-Hole Golf Course and Pula Golf course is just a few minutes drive away. and is very close by many beautiful beaches and coves, so if you love the beach …

… there are many water activities to be had.

There is a Sports Facility in the village called Poliesportiu es Figueral …

… where the local football teams play.

Walking and cycling are also very popular in Capdepera.

Properties are lower in price than other areas on the island that are closer to Palma. Buying a home in Capdepera should prove to be a good property investment in future years, as the protected nature and beautiful coastline in this area is second to none.

Some areas close by are:

Cala Ratjada

Colonia de Sant Pere

Cala Bona

Cala Millor

Arta

Son Servera

Costa de Canyumel

The village is only 8 kms from Arta, where there is a market held every Tuesday. Although not a large market, it has some nice stalls that sell …

… clothing, jewellery, and some very nice local handicrafts.

There is also a local market in Cala Rajada every Saturday morning. Often tourists from the towns further south will take the boat trip from the local harbours or piers to visit this market.

There is also an indoor food market where …

… you can buy fresh local produce and meats. I like this market because it has a certain appeal and a wonderful relaxed atmosphere.

I would advise that you arrive at the market early, as this town becomes extremely busy on market day. The market closes at lunchtime.

Although Capdepera is a residencial area, there are a good number of very nice hotels close by in Cala Ratjada.
