Leisure Activities – So Much To Do, So Little Time
There are many leisure activities
in Majorca for you to enjoy. I have listed some of them below.
There are many small shops in just about every resort in Mallorca that sell all types of items, including clothing, souvenirs, alcohol, tobacco, and supermarkets are also available.
One of the main leisure activities, is a visit to one of our local markets that show off Mallorca’s artisan wares. Some stalls sell handbags, shoes and clothing. Fresh fruit and vegetables can also be purchased.
If you are a dedicated Shop-aholic there is nothing like a trip to Palma City where you will find a great selection of shops carrying all the latest trends in clothing. There are also many cafes where you can stop to have lunch (I suggest tapas bars).
If you get bored with shopping, you could also take a walk along the promenade where the marina is or visit to the famous gothic cathedral in Palma City. There is a bus service into Palma City and depending on where you are located on the island, you can take the train to Palma.
Traffic can get very congested in Palma, and parking can be a nightmare, so I would not suggest you drive to Palma City, unless, of course you know the city well.
I can recommend a visit to the factory outlets at Festival Park. Now, this is what I call “shopping”. This is where you can really shop until you drop, in fact, be prepared to spend the whole day here.
There is a large parking lot at Festival Park, so you shouldn’t have any trouble parking.
You can purchase designer clothing in quality shops at factory prices. There is a map directory in the location that is easy to follow to find your favourite designer shop.
My favourite store is situated in the inside maze of unique shops. It is called Jabón Bon. You can find lovely little soaps in wonderful shapes and sizes, some that look almost edible.
There is also a cinema and at least 25 restaurants to choose from. You might even be lucky enough to visit when the entertainment is on. For more information on Festival Park, visit www.festivalpark.com or call 971 14 09 25.
P Boat Trips
There are boat trips in many of the main resorts. I love the catamarans where from the lower deck you can observe the fantastic underwater world through large windows. In Santa Ponca (Ponsa) you have two choices of catamarans.
In Cala Millor/Cala Bona, there is a Glass Bottom Boat that has a variety of different trips you can take, depending on the day you wish to go out on.
There are also various boat trips in the Puerto Alcudia harbour as well as Cala Ratjada. There are even ferry trips to Menorca.
One of the most popular leisure activities is a visit to this park. Located in Calvia, but it is just a walk away from Magaluf. I think you’ll find that the two unique attractions called Boomerang and Tornado will be quite thrilling. There are slides for the children that are dragon and whale shaped in this very large water park. For more information, visit www.aqualand.es or call 971 13 08 11.
Aqualand (El Arenal)
Aqualand (El Arenal) is the largest water park in the whole of Europe. The two completely enclosed slides are the most popular. Although I’ve never attempted the slides in this park, some sound very exciting (crazy race, rapids, black hole and devils tail, to mention a few). If you’re not up for the huge slides, there are some tamer ones as well as swimming pools with wave machines. There are also attractions for younger children. These parks are fun and quite refreshing when the temperature is really hot in the summer months. For more information visit www.aqualand.es or call 971 44 00 00.
Western Water Park
All of Mallorca’s water parks are very popular, including this water park, which is next door to Aqualand Magaluf. As the name suggests, the park is western themed. Western Water Park is great fun for the children and adults alike. The unique attraction at this park is called “The Beast” which is made up of four slides. But that’s not all; there is another kamikaze slide with a drop of thirty feet. Now that should get your heart thumping. For more information visit www.westernparks.es or call 971 13 12 02.
Fun Parks for Children
Majorca has even thought of leisure activities for your children. Some resorts have “Fun Parks” for the children. They have mini rides, mini go carts, bouncy castles, and some even have trampolines for the children to have fun on.
When it comes to Leisure Activities, I think you’ll find there is so much to do but so little time. I guess you’ll just have to come back and have more holidays in Majorca to experience them all.
